So in our travels, Ben and I have found ourselves in Thunder Bay.
December 15 2005
Now that the snow has started and the lake is frozen, the sound of complete silence surrounds me. I have never encountered silence so deep that it almost echoes. I can go out on the lake and walk for miles and not hear anything but the sound of nylon rubbing together as I walk. If I stop and listen I can actually hear the snowflakes falling. It's an odd feeling to know that you are quite possibly the only person around for miles, or not see another person for several days. I am alone, but not lonely, yet. We'll see how the winter shapes up. We're supposed to get 50 cm of snow by the end of tonight, on top of the 50 we already had. I really hope I get those snow shoes I asked for, for christmas, at this rate I might actually need them!
